Sonnet of the Brokenhearted
You hear the countless tales of the girls who have fallen
In love, is that what they say? Too hard. Too fast.
Who carelessly give their hearts over and over again
For a love that deep inside, they know will never last
Countless times I’ve been the shoulder to cry on
The one who’s had to mend their broken hearts
Always I set aside that heartbreak of my own
Already broken, never fixed, the pieces fall apart
How can you love, knowing it will all end any day,
Forgetting all the anguish you’ve already gone through?
To give all of yourself, when you can be thrown away?
But you have not noticed, have you, that I secretly envy deep inside
Because you’ve learned to love again, while I’ve only learned to hide
